My Secret Talent

Welcome to another linkup with the ladies from The Well. You can check out other linkup posts I've done in the past here. Today all of the participating bloggers will be answering the question: What are your hidden talents?

My Secret Talent |

So, I'm fairly open about my talents (and lack thereof, like refraining from worrying or staying in control of my own happiness) which makes it sort of difficult to answer this question. However, I will do my level best to express what I consider to be my secret talent.

My best friend from high school, the fabulous Katie, can attest that I have the worst memory in existence. Like the absolute worst. All through high school I was never able to memorize my schedule so Katie memorized mine and her's so I could always ask her where I needed to be next #truestory. This surely relates to my love of lists and schedules; I don't make them simply because I like to check things off (although that does contribute), but because I literally can't remember what I am supposed to be doing or where I am supposed to be.

Ok, get to the point Alyssa. How is your lack of memory a secret talent? Although I sometimes don't even remember my own birthday (yeah, that actually happened) there are two things I can memorize like no one's business: scripts and lyrics. Seriously. When I was an actress (I just realized I've never mentioned that I was a child actress!) I would not only memorize my own lines, but literally the entire show. I also competed in public speaking and to this day still have the "You can't handle the truth" speech from A Few Good Men by Jack Nicholson memorized. On my iPod I have over 1,000 songs all of which I know the lyrics to. And a good portion of those are in Hindi. I have no idea what I'm saying, but I know the words!

The Well's word of the month is leverage and they asked how we are using our hidden talents as leverage, but as of right now I'm not exactly using my memorizing ability for anything in particular. It does make dancing around to Bollywood music fun though because I can sing along :)

What are your hidden talents and what are you doing with them?
