Why You Shouldn't Define Your Style

I have spent a ton of time trying to define my style. Am I classic, preppy, modern, girly, or chic? Do I have a signature "look"? What adjective do I want to embody? All of these questions, while valid, are really not what is important. Through my style evolution (if it can really be called that...) I have discovered that defining your style is a terrible mistake.

'Why?' you ask. Doesn't that make things easier? You'll always know what works, won't you? Well, my friends, the answer is a resounding 'no.' The only function defining your style serves is to limit you. If you consider yourself a prep, then you may never think of trying out that new modern style. Or, if you only wear classic pieces you probably won't buy a high-low skirt.

Fashion and style can be fun and entertaining ways to express yourself. People do not fit into boxes, because no two people are alike. The same goes for your style. Allow yourself the freedom to be completely undefined.
